A new facility will provide TELUS World of Science the opportunity to expand our reach and impact in the local community and surrounding areas.  As attendance to the current site has doubled over the past 10 years, and the impact of science and technology is becoming ever more present in our daily lives, the extended reach through programs, and the expanded exhibit development will provide engaging experiences for all visitors, children and their parents or teachers, as well as teens and adults.  Through new technologies and partnerships TELUS World of Science will branch out beyond its walls to engage new audiences, new ages and stages of learners, and new communities; provoking new ideas and encouraging awareness and dialogue. Further, as the City of Calgary expands the West Light Rail Transit (LRT) along Bow Trail, the existing facility will be unable to meet the needs of our growing community.

Designed to achieve Gold Level LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification, the new facility will ensure sustainability and energy efficiency. It will go well beyond what other LEED buildings can achieve – it will be an interpretation and demonstration site for the very sustainable technologies and operations that are required to achieve the Gold rating.
