Sharon Thirkettle &
Mryka Hall-Beyer

eARTh

Evolving from a desire to explore the earth’s landscape, eARTh looks at our planet from a different perspective in the creation of three dimensional, tactile forms. The carving and manipulation of clay becomes the exploration, creating lifelike organisms similar to those on living earth. This exhibit was produced as a partnership of Mryka Hall-Beyer, an Assistant Professor of Geography at the University of Calgary, and Sharon Thirkettle, a Calgary artist.

Ed Burtynsky
Large Scale Photographic Images of Alberta and British Columbia

Burtynsky’s photographic essays include images of rail cuts, homesteads, tailings, mine sites and gas plants. His photographs deal with the final stages of industrial production and are located in places outside of the viewer's everyday experience. Much of this work reflects the artist's concern with the relationship between nature and industry.
